The CM Valiant was released in November 1978. It would be the last Valiant produced in Australia. The Valiant would go out with a bang, as it would withhold a reputation of grace and luxury that the Valiant started in 1962 with the RV-1.

The last Valiant model was arguably of the best, featuring excellent build quality, refined ride, good handling and steering, and a fuel efficient engine. Electronic Lean Burn was featured on the ‘Hemi’ 6. Fuel economy for the Hemi 6 was about 11L/100kms 100 kms. Only sedan and wagon models were produced.

In regards to styling it was very similar to the CL. The equipment list grew and minor changes were made to improve the efficiency of the engine.

Despite being the last Valiant, it was an impressive model that has stood the test of time. Plans were put in place to produce a CN Valiant, but they were scrapped and production ceased. The last Valiant rolled off the assembly line on August 28, 1981. A total of 565 338 Valiant’s were built in Australia. 16 005 CM Valiant’s were produced.
